Hi, I’m Vicky — a mum of two beautiful children, living in Sydney, and the heart behind The Skog Child.
Our story begins in 2020, when my first child Wolfgang came into the world during one of the most extraordinary times in recent history. Like so many families, we found ourselves at home during lockdown — just the three of us, navigating a quieter, slower kind of life. And in that stillness, something shifted in me.
I started to look more carefully at the things we were bringing into our home. I wanted toys that would spark Wolfgang’s imagination without overwhelming him. Toys that were beautiful, honest, and built to last. I discovered the world of open-ended wooden play — and I fell completely in love.
I’ve always been drawn to Scandinavian design: the clean lines, the natural materials, the philosophy that less truly is more. There’s something deeply calming about a home filled with thoughtful, well-made things — and I wanted to share that feeling with other families. So alongside our carefully curated wooden toys, you’ll also find a selection of beautiful Nordic-inspired pieces for your home.
The name The Skog Child comes from the Scandinavian word skog, meaning forest. It speaks to everything we believe in — a connection to nature, a commitment to quality, and a deep desire to protect the world our children will inherit.
Every product in our store is chosen with intention. We look for brands that share our values: sustainable materials, ethical production, and designs that stand the test of time. We’re a micro family business, and every single order means the world to us.
